As a trainee, she rehearsed so hard every day that she changed three T-shirts from sweat. However, she left the company 6 months before her debut due to high stress levels during her internship. After returning home with an empty heart, Soen spent half a year locked up. In an interview, she admitted that it was the most difficult moment of her life. Her difficulties did not end there; her grandmother and uncle, who supported her dream of becoming a star, became very seriously ill and died a year later. Soen said: " I was locked up for a year and a half after leaving SNSD, it was the hardest moment of my life. Not only my parents, but my entire family supported my dreams, especially my grandmother and uncle. After the funeral, I tried to find the determination to achieve my dream again. T-ara [Biography] T-ara Country: South Korea Members: 6 people Direction: k-pop Date of foundation: 2009 T-ara is a Korean girl group formed by Mnet Media in 2009. He made his official debut on July 29th on MBC's Radio Star. On the same day there was the premiere of the video for the song "Lies". In June 2009, Core Contents Media (the same agency that handled Davichi and SG Wannabe) reported that former leader Jiae and Jiwon had left the group. The girls decided that T-ara's style did not suit them. Almost immediately, Jeon Bo Ram, daughter of Jeon Youngrok, became a member of T-ara. And three weeks before their debut, Soyeon and Qri joined the group. The agency officially announced the new lineup in July. Soon, 6 members were already working on the group's debut single "Lies". Pre-debut Even before their debut, for which the members had been preparing for 3 years, the group aroused increased interest and was known as the “Super Rookies”. The group's original lineup included Jiae, Jiwon, Eunjeong, Hyomin, and Jiyeon. In April 2009, T-ara released her first song, "Good Person", an OST for the Korean drama "Cinderella Man". On May 6, the joint single of T-ara, SeeYa and Davichi "Yeoseong Shidae / Yeongwonhan Sarang" ("Women's Generation / Forever Love") was released. Despite the fact that the entire group is indicated in the work on the single, the project involved only Jiyeon participated. The song was used as the soundtrack for the same drama 2009 - 2010: Debut, Absolute First Album, Breaking Heart and Temptastic The official debut took place on July 29 on the talk show MBC's Radio Star. On the same day, the video for the song premiered. song "Lies". T-ara's first performance was at Mnet's M, where they performed "Lies" and "Wanna Play?" Unfortunately, it was criticized as the group was seen lip-syncing. T-ara subsequently announced. , “they will sing live in the future.” On September 15, members Eunjung, Soyeon, Hyomin and Jiyeon, together with members of the South Korean boy band Supernova, released a joint song “TTL” (Time to Love), which already ranked 2nd on GAON in October. Music Charts The successor song "TTL Listen 2", which featured all 6 members of the group, was released on October 9 and ranked 14th on the Korean music charts. "TWENTYth Urban" is the group's third single. It was released on September 29 and is the first part of a project dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the work of singer and composer Lee Kyung Sub. "Haneulttang Byeolttang" ("하늘땅 별땅"; "Skyground Starground"), the lead song of the single, was written back in 1996 for the female duo B.B. On November 27, the first album, "Absolute First Album", was released digitally. In this regard, teaser videos for the songs "Bo Peep Bo Peep" and "Cheoeum Cheoreom" ("처음처럼") were published. A poll was conducted to determine the album's lead single. Fans on various music portals such as Mnet, MelOn, Nate, Cyworld, Soribada and others could independently choose the winner by voting for their favorite song. On November 30, a video for the song "Cheoeum Cheoreom" and two versions of "Bo Peep Bo Peep" (15+ and 19+) were released. Version 15+ quickly took first place among the most popular videos of the week according to the music portal GOM TV. The 19+ version only made it to 4th place, while "Cheoeum Cheoreom" took second place. The voting results were soon announced and the song "Cheoeum Cheoreom" won with 53% of the votes. So, on December 4, 2009, T-ara’s first album with 14 songs was released. Later in January, Core Contents Media announced that Eunjung and Hyomin would collaborate with SeeYa and Davichi to record the single "Wonder Woman". Following this, T-ara announced the start of promotions for their lead single "Cheoeum Cheoreom" (처음처럼, "Like the First Time"). Unfortunately, the promotion did not last long as Soyeon fell ill with H1N1 ("swine flu"). In February, the group announced the re-release of their debut album under the title "Breaking Heart". The music video for the lead single, "I Go Crazy Because of You" ("너 때문에 미쳐", "Neo Ttaemune Michyeo"), was released on February 24. T-ara marked her comeback with a performance on M! Countdown. The next single for promotion was the song "I"m Really Hurt" ("내가 너무 아파", "Naega Neomu Apa"). And on March 3, T-ara released a repackage album "Breaking Heart" with two new songs, "너 때문에 미쳐" ("Neo Ttaemune Micheo") and "내가 너무 아파" ("Naega Neomu Apa"). The album peaked at number two on the GAON Music Chart. The song "Neo Ttaemune Micheo" spent two weeks at the top of the GAON Single-Charts. In anticipation of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, T-ara released the single "We Are The One" ("16강 기원 응원가") on May 3. On July 6, it was announced that Ryu Hwa Young (Ryu Hwayoung) would become the group's seventh member. , Core Contents Media stated that the leader's position will now change every year and that Boram will be next. This was previously accepted by all members of the group. On November 23, T-ara released the music video for the song "Why Are You Being Like This" ("왜이러니"). , "Wae Ireoni"), the lead single from their first mini-album "Temptastic". It was released digitally on December 1st. The video for the second single, "Yayaya", appeared on the same day. Due to the shelling of Yeonpyeong Island in November, the album's release was delayed for some time and was released only on December 3. The group began their return to the stage with a performance on Music Bank together with new member Hwayoung and new leader Boram. T-ara won two awards in a row for "Wae Ireoni" and "Yayaya" on M! Countdown 9 and 16 December. 2011: John Travolta Wannabe, Black Eyes and Japanese debut T-ara's fifth single, "Beautiful Girl", was released on February 10th, and although it is believed that all the girls took part in the production, only Hyomin was involved in the project. In June, it became known that T-ara would mark their comeback with the release of the song "Roly-Poly" on July 1, 2011. It was also mentioned that the group would begin promoting in the Japanese market. Core Contents Media also stated that Hyomin will be the new leader, "In order to instill a sense of responsibility in each member of the group, we have decided to change the leader for each new album release. We will be passing the position on to members who have not been leaders before. The reason why Eunjung was it during their debut in that she and Hyomin trained with T-ara the longest and we felt she would be the best." They continued, "Similarly, Hyomin was chosen for T-ara's Japanese promotions and comeback with 'Roly-Poly', and the reason for this is the same as with Eunjung. We made this decision after long discussions with both members and our agency." Both the song and the music video for "Roly-Poly" were released on June 29 and reached number one on various online charts within just an hour. "Roly-Poly" was voted the most popular, downloaded and grossing song of 2011 in Korea by Gaon. On August 2, the band released a limited edition reissue of "John Travolta Wannabe". The title track "Roly-Poly in Copacabana" is a Eurodance remix of "Roly-Poly" named after the popular disco club of the 80s. T-ara released their debut Japanese single "Bo Peep Bo Peep" following their seventh single "Log-in" on September 28. It immediately peaked at number one on the Oricon weekly singles chart with 49,712 copies sold, making T-ara the first non-Japanese girl group in Oricon history to have their debut single reach number 1. T-ara's return to the Korean scene was also announced in September. The 30-minute music video released on November 9 for their song "Cry Cry" featured a "drama-like" plot and a budget of 1 billion won. Immediately after the release of the 15-minute video for “Cry Cry,” promotion for the video for the song “Lovey-Dovey” began and the release of a 30-minute music video drama. It is noteworthy that the drama videos “Cry Cry” and “Lovey-Dovey” featured not only T-ara members Jiyeon, Hyomin, Khiri and Eunjung, but also famous actors Cha Seung Won and Ji Chang Wook. The music videos were filmed in Busan. On November 11, thanks to the stunning success of "Cry Cry", T-ara's third mini-album "Black Eyes" was released a little earlier than planned. The group released their second Japanese single, a remake of "Yayaya", on November 30. On December 7, Core Contents Media announced that T-ara's third leader Hyomin will be relinquishing his position to Soyeon. She will lead the group starting January 1, 2012 - ahead of the "Lovey-Dovey" promotions. The group performed a three-day mini-concert tour, X-mas Premium Live, which took place at Shinagawa Stella Hall in Tokyo, Sepp Halls in Nagoya and Osaka on December 20, 21 and 22 respectively. "We Were in Love" ("우리 사랑했잖아", "Uri Saranghaetjanha"), a Christmas ballad featuring Davichi, was released as the lead single of Black Eyes' upcoming re-release, "Funky Town". The single peaked at number one on the Gaon Chart and moved up to number two on the Korea K-Pop Hot 100. 2012: Funky Town, first Japanese album, Day by Day, line-up changes and Mirage January 3, 2012 release of 4th mini-album T- ara "Funky Town". The album sold 43,049 copies in its first month. "Lovey-Dovey", as the album's other lead single, immediately topped various charts in Korea. In February, Forbes Korea announced its annual "Top 40 Power Celebrities" list. In the ranking, T-ara was ranked 17th, making them the third most powerful girl group and the seventh most powerful female celebrity. Rumors about a possible change in the composition and concept of the T-ara group circulated back in March, but the official statement appeared only on April 5. Core Contents Media announced their intention to transform T-ara into a 9-member group. In a press release dated April 16, they also announced the possible replacement of some members of the group, thereby raising numerous doubts about the future of T-ara and the lineup in particular. On May 23, the group released their eighth single "Round And Round" ("빙글빙글") and fourth Japanese single "Lovey-Dovey". It is noteworthy that “Round And Round” is not an original composition by T-ara, but a cover version of the 1984 hit by the famous singer Nami. On June 6, their first Japanese album, "Jewelry Box", was released. In fact, this is a collection of T-ara's early works plus two new songs: "Keep Out" and "T-ARATiC MAGiC MUSiC". On June 19, the first concert tour "T-ara Japan Tour 2012: Jewelry Box" took place. He returned to the Korean pop scene on July 3 with the Korean mini-album "Day By Day" and the music video for the title track of the same name. It was also revealed that the group will be making a comeback in August to promote their new re-released mini-album "Mirage" with the title track "Sexy Love" and in October with the song "T-ara's Effect" produced by Shinsadong Tiger, the maker of the hits "Bo Peep" Bo Peep", "Roly-Poly" and "Lovey-Dovey". On July 14, on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary, T-ara celebrated the opening of the "QUEEN's" fan club. At the celebration, Dani appeared in front of fans for the first time as the 9th member. On July 30, Core Contents Media officially confirmed that they were terminating Ryu Hwayoung's contract. The likelihood that the girl will return is low, but fans still believe and hope that there will be no changes in the group's schedule and T-'s upcoming comeback. ara with "Sexy Love" will take place as previously planned. At the end of August, the label announced the release of the group's seventh mini-album, entitled "Mirage". T-ara presented three videos for the album: a video for the title track of the album "Sexy Love", which is a continuation of the "Day By Day" video; a dance version of "Sexy Love" and a video for the ballad track "Day and Night ~ Love All". "Day and Night ~ Love All" was released as a separate single. The track is performed by Shannon, Gunji (Gavy NJ) and new member of T-ara - Ahreum (Areum). The album and single were released on September 4. 2012: New member of the group On May 30, it was announced that 14-year-old Dani would become the new member of the group, but would only join during the promotion of T-ara's next album. The reason for this action was explained by the fact that she “wants to practice a little more and will join when she is confident in herself and in her abilities, so as not to cause unnecessary inconvenience to the group.” Instead, she played one of the main roles in the video drama "Day By Day". The message about Dani joining the group was received with great skepticism, because the group's manager stated that he had noticed her on the street. On June 14, Core Contents Media officially introduced 18-year-old Ah-reum as one of two new members of T-ara. Unlike Dani, she joined the group in July during the promotions for "Day By Day". Her official live debut took place at MBC's Music Core. 2009: - Cyworld Digital Music Awards: Rookie of the Month - "Lies" - Cyworld Digital Music Awards: Ting's Choice Artist Award - "TTL (Time to Love) " and "TTL Listen 2" (with Supernova) - 24th Golden Disk Awards: Newcomer Award 2010: - 19th Seoul Music Awards: Best New Artist Award - Mnet 20"s Choice Awards: Most Influential Artist - Melon Music Awards: Bonsang Award ( Top 10) - Gaon Chart Grand Opening Awards: Ringtone Award - "Wonder Woman" (with SeeYa and Davichi) 2011: - MTN Awards: Top CF models - Melon Music Awards: Best Music Video - "Roly-Poly" (directed by Cha Eun Taek) - GSL Tour Awards: Best Girl Group - Asia Jewelry Awards: Diamond Award - MTN Awards: Top CF models - Melon Music Awards: Best Music Video - "Roly-Poly" (directed by Cha Eun Taek) - GSL Tour Awards : Best Girl Group - Asia Jewelry Awards: Diamond Award 2012: - Gaon Chart Awards: Singer of the Year (July) - "Roly-Poly" - Billboard Japan Awards: Top Pop Artist of 2011 - 21st Seoul Music Awards: Bonsang - 21st Seoul Music Awards: Best Digital Album (John Travolta Wannabe) Korean discography Albums: 2009. 12.27 - Absolute First Album Albums (Repackage): 2010.03.03 - Breaking Heart 2012.09.04 - Mirage Mini Albums: 2010.12.03 - Temptastic 2011.06.29 - John Travolta Wannabe 2011.11.11 - Black Eyes Mini Albums (Repackage): 2011.08.02 - Roly-Poly in Copacabana 2012.01.01 - Funky Town (Download) 2012.07.03 - Day By Day (Download) Singles: 2009.03.04 - Lies 2010.05.03 - We Are The One 2010.09.29 - TWENTYth Urban 2010.11 .23 - 왜 이러니 2011.02.10 - Beautiful girl 2011.09.15 - Log-In Japanese discography: Albums: 2012.06.06 - Jewelry Box (Download) Singles: 2011.09.28 - Bo Peep Bo Peep 2011.11.30 - Yayaya (Download) 2012.02.29 - Roly-Poly (Download) 2012.05.23 - Lovey-Dovey (Download) 2012.05.23 - Round And Round (Download) Group members: Ham-Eun-jung Name: Ham Eun Jung / Ham Eun-chan Date of birth: 12 December 1988 Position in the group: Leader, main vocal, main rapper Height: 168 cm Weight: 47 kg Education: DongGook University Interests: movies, fashion magazines, reading Park Ji Yeon Name: Park Ji Yeon / Park Ji Yeon Date of birth: June 7, 1993 Position in the group: vocalist Height: 167 cm Weight: 46 kg Education: Hyehwa Girls High School Interests: sleep (!), Park Sun Young films Name: Park Sun Young / Park Sun Young Date of birth: May 30, 1989 Position in the group: vocalist , rap Height: 167 cm Weight: 43 kg Education: Seonggyungwan University Interests: photography, cooking, drawing Jeon Bo Ram Name: Jeon Bo Ram / Jeon Bo Ram Date of birth: March 22, 1986 Position in the group: vocalist Height: 155 cm Weight: 45 kg Park In JungName: Park In Jung / Park In Jung Date of birth: October 5, 1987 Position in the group: main vocalist Height: 163 cm Weight: 46 kg Lee Ji Hyun Name: Lee Ji Hyun / Lee Ji Hyun Date of birth: December 12, 1986 Position in the group: Sub vocalist Height: 162 cm Weight: 44 kg Ryu Hwa-young Name: Ryu Hwa-young / 류화영 Date of birth: April 22, 1993 Position in the group: main rapper Height: 168 cm Weight: 45 kg

Lately, you can often see questions about the scandal with T-ara which occurred three years ago and still does not subside.

In this topic, I will try to briefly outline the essence of the scandal.

1. Anonymous letter from Hwayoung.

It all started with an anonymous letter in which Hwayoung introduced herself as a member of a famous idol group. In her letter, she did not mention any names, but simply said how difficult it was to endure the bullying when she was new to the group.

November 6, 2011, message entitled “Being an outcast.. is actually difficult and tiring” , was uploaded by user "Suk Ryu" to the online forum Nate Pann.

"Hello. I kept thinking whether I should do this or not, but I finally decided to write a few things..

The group I'm in is... a group that is recognized by its first initial letter.

I’m a new member of the group, so I’m a little scared, because I’m very timid and shy, I’m still embarrassed to communicate with girls... This is one of the reasons why I become an outcast

The group members must be against me joining the group...

In our dorm I become invisible
But when the cameras are filming us, the girls suddenly put their hands on my shoulders and show kindness.

When we train... I really feel like I'm going to die.
When I make a mistake, I hear criticism of myself, something like: “You can’t even do that?” And so on all the time.

Even now, I’m sitting alone, the girls went shopping without me..
They are gone for a long time, I want to forget about my career and just leave.

However, this is the path I chose, I just recently joined the group, so it's really difficult for me now.

Now that I've written this, I feel a little better.

Thank you." Translation © Anna Shumskaya

2. Feud with group members + boycott Hwayoung

Fans noticed that Hwayoung in the group as the “black sheep”. The group members delete it from their Twitter accounts. Later information appeared that the reason for everything was her refusal to perform on stage. Music Bank.

She refused to perform due to a leg injury she received earlier in training during their concert in Japan. But the organizers suggested that she not dance, but simply sit on a chair and thus perform her rap part. But Hwayoung categorically refused. Eunjung and Hyomin were supposed to perform Hwayoung's rap part, but due to lack of time, they were unable to get all the details from Hwayoung, and as a result, Hyomin made a mistake on stage.

She later tweeted “...It hurts me too. I really want to cry. But instead I should train."

3. Hwayoung gets kicked out of T-ara

This is where the whole “soap opera” begins! CEO Kim Kwang Soo expelled Hwayoung from T-ara. He explained that the reason for her exclusion from the group was not just one, but a number of other incidents that the company could no longer tolerate.

In addition to the incident with Music Bank, there was also a scandal when, during a performance on stage, "Inkigayo" dated January 29, 2012 - at Hwayoung her breasts were exposed... (I can’t show this scene, it’s +18, but you can find it on Google if you’re interested in how it happened)

Also, the group members repeatedly complained about Hwayoung for not being diligent enough in training. Hwayoung received complaints from employees, especially their manager. One day, Hwayoung threw a tantrum right in front of fans and reporters, she threw her crutches on the ground, sat down and threatened the manager that she would scream loudly - apparently, she had a tough schedule and she was just tired of being driven back and forth.

Official statements stated that all participants T-ara, were saddened by Hwayoung's departure, because during this time they became attached and fell in love with her. The agency terminates the contract for the benefit of itself Hwayoung to protect her from actions that could harm her.

RESULT: At that time, many fans were on the side of T-ara and their agency. They were even indignant, saying: “How bad is Hwayoung, she was given the chance to perform with such a famous idol group and she’s even lazy to practice! Moreover, he constantly tries to arouse pity by slandering our beloved participants.” The agency was content, if not for one thing...

4. Fans began their independent investigation + comments from eyewitnesses!

The agency had already breathed a sigh of relief, and they wanted to turn the page, but it was not to be... Fans actively began to “dig” the Internet, as a result of which more and more new facts began to emerge that were far from in favor of T-ara.

Fans began to search for data (photos, videos or comments) of the group members humiliating Hwayoung. Boram breaks Hwayoung's umbrella, 2PM's Wooyoung tries to fix it, Hyomin hit Hwayoung's eye with her hand, Eunjeong puts a huge piece of rice in Hwayoung's mouth and more, you can see in the topic, the link to which I will publish at the end of the article.

Comment from a Japanese employee who worked with T-ara: “When I was working with T-ara as a translator, I noticed that Hwayoung hardly spoke to anyone and was quiet and modest. She was just doing her job. She always smiled. She made a better impression on our employees than other girls. I knew that she felt alien and lost, since she was new, I tried to make her feel comfortable. But she still seemed weak, and I immediately noticed that her relationship with the other members of the group was strained. Unfortunately, I think that only idols with strong personalities can survive in show business, and those who are kind and friendly will always be despised."© Anna Shumskaya

A little later, a comment appeared from a member of the Hot Chicks dance team (they worked with T-ara, Davichi, KARA, Brown Eyed Girls, Rainbow Pixie, etc.). She said: “This took place during the Japanese concert. We did the dance for the song "Lovey Dovey" and prepared for "Roly Poly". These days we had a very busy work schedule. The T-ara dancers and members, who had just completed their previous work, were extremely tired.
However, the members gathered their last strength and were practicing when Hwayoung got the choreography a little mixed up. Seeing this, Jiyeon and Soyeon mocked her sarcastically, saying, "Since you've already decided to join the group, you should work a little harder."
Hwayoung then became a little depressed, but one of the dancers calmed the situation and the rehearsal resumed. But Hwayoung was making a displeased expression on her face, and JiYoung, who saw this, slapped Hwayoung on the cheek and told her that she came later than the others, so she should act reasonable and rehearse without a displeased expression.
The atmosphere became very tense and Hyomin took JiYeon outside, telling her that she shouldn't behave like that. Even after this incident, all the members were indifferent to Hwayoung instead of calming her down.
After the incident, T-ara went to prepare for their performance of the song “Day by Day.” I could only see T-ara on TV.
After seeing them on screen, I thought the girls' relationship had improved, but the members don't even want to sit in the car with her."

5. Resonance: 6,300 fans left the T-ara fan cafe + mass surrender of tickets for their concert + petition for the disbandment of the group

As it turned out, the agency lied to the fans, the members of the group lied to the fans - as a result, more than 6,300 fans left the T-ara fan cafe, and tickets for T-ara's first ever solo concert “Jewelry Box” were sold out en masse, which they spent three months attending years since debut!

SBS producer Ryu Chul Min said after new facts about Hwayoung came to light, "I won't contact T-ara in the future"- which caused a huge scandal. Later, he explained that he expressed his personal opinion.

Large cosmetics company Tony Moly breaks contract with T-ara, before its end, regardless of the fact that they had to pay a penalty. Other advertising companies followed suit and either canceled or refused to sign contracts with T-ara.

Looks like it's time for T-ara, a group that doesn't respect their sunbaes, if they don't believe another artist can be popular enough, let them know the public's verdict. Please disband this group.". The petition to disband T-ara has received over 71,700 signatures.

6. T-ara admitted guilt and continues to apologize

Well, we’ve come to the point that has recently started to raise questions like: “What happened?” After all, the boycott continues. At a recent concert in Seoul, there were allegations that fans hid their light sticks and also engaged in silence during T-ara's performance - an action they call "10 minutes", which is deliberately ignoring the group. No matter where T-ara goes or appears, outraged fans constantly appear and demand the group's disbandment.

Therefore, T-ara members have started admitting their guilt by appearing on TV shows or on their SNS accounts... and here is Eunjeong's recent apology, which you can read here: T-ara's Eunjeong vows to continue apologizing
