It has finally become known who became the winner of Eurovision 2017. The bookmaker's forecast of the winner of Eurovision 2017 was justified and first place in the song competition was taken by the Portuguese performer Salvador Sobral, which was written by his sister Louise. Almost every second country generously gave Portugal 12 or 10 points, so the gap from other participants was noticeable from the first minutes. However, one cannot help but say that on social networks the entire Russian-speaking audience strongly disagreed with the verdict, highlighting Moldova, Sweden, Hungary and Bulgaria as favorites.

Bookmakers were confident that the possible winners of Eurovision 2017 were Portugal (represented by Salvador Sobral), Italy (Francesco Gabbani) or Bulgaria (represented by 17-year-old Christian Kostov). The six weakest performers were to include Austria, Belarus, Ukraine, Greece, Spain and Cyprus.

Eurovision 2017 final results Ukraine table

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko congratulated Portugal on its victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 on Twitter.

“We congratulate Portugal on the victory and Ukraine on the worthy conduct of the competition!” - wrote the Ukrainian president.

After the name of the winner had already been announced, the singer admitted that he still did not understand the voting principle, writes rsute.ru. Salvador Sobral also noted the absence of dances, accompanying special effects and similar paraphernalia in his performance and admitted that he was very surprised that the judges appreciated his musical abilities so highly.

As Salvador Sobral said, his immediate plans include a summer tour in Portugal, work on his second album, but otherwise he will “just continue to live his life.” The winner of Eurovision 2017 admitted that he does not think that after winning the competition, anything will change much in his life.

Salvador Sobral's sister believes that the key to victory was the simplicity of the song and her brother's special performance.

“When I thought about this song, I imagined that people would be attracted to the simplicity. The simplicity of the song was the key and set it apart from anything else in the competition. Simplicity and the way my brother performed it,” said the sister of Eurovision 2017 winner Salvador Sobral.

Sobral ironically stated that it was difficult for him to understand the voting results. “I didn’t understand the vote. It's very difficult to understand,” he said. At the same time, the singer noted that he does not consider himself a new hero of his country. “I think the real hero is Ronaldo,” the Portuguese joked.

He acknowledged the importance of the victory, including because he performed his song as a humanitarian mission in support of refugees in Europe. “I think this is a very big problem for Europe,” the singer noted, emphasizing that his idea is not a political mission.

Eurovision 2017 audience voting results

Moldova, Azerbaijan, Greece, Sweden, Portugal, Poland, Armenia, Australia, Cyprus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Belarus, Croatia, Hungary, Denmark, Israel, Romania, Norway, the Netherlands and Austria met in the Eurovision final. Also performing in the final were participants from the five founding countries of the competition (Great Britain, Italy, Spain, France and Germany) and Ukraine, the host of the festival.

At the closing ceremony, Vitali Klitschko was in place of the president, and Jamala also performed on stage, replaced by Ruslana and Verka Serduchka. During the concert, there were provocative slogans from soloist O. Torvald, and one spectator jumped onto the stage with an Australian flag and showed his bare bottom to the audience.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko was not in the Eurovision hall. Due to the shelling of Avdiivka, he decided to refuse to attend the final, which he planned to attend together with fighters and people with disabilities. Poroshenko wrote about this on his Facebook page. “Eurovision is a very important event for Ukraine. We planned to attend the final of the competition together with Marina and invited our soldiers and people with disabilities to root for Ukraine together. However, due to the shelling of Avdiivka and the death of civilians, I decided to cancel my stay at the Eurovision final.

Salvador himself said during the press conference that he likes to be crazy on stage. “I’m glad that I can bring something new, some changes with my song,” said the winner of the competition.

Salvador named his sister, who is the author of the song Amar Pelos Dois, as the best composer. Luisa, in turn, said that her brother is a good performer. “When he sang, I saw every word in his eyes. He made it (the song) special,” the songwriter said.

Experts assessing the quality of the competition in Ukraine were struck by its budget. The budget amounted to 655.7 million hryvnia (about €23.5 million).

According to the chairman of the Ukrainian Eurovision jury, poet Yuriy Rybchinsky, there may be a corruption component here. “And of course, I am outraged by one more fact. I can’t remain silent about this. This is that for the current Eurovision budget three similar competitions could be held,” he also noted. Rybchinsky recalled that last year Sweden had enough to organize the competition with €9 million, and Estonia with €12 million.

Eurovision 2017 final voting results Ukraine

Russian singer Yulia Samoilova commented on the results of Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv. She admitted that she was very happy about the victory of the Portuguese singer Salvador Sobral.

The artist announced this in her video, which was published on the social network.

“I’m very happy that Portugal won. Salvador Sobral, you are amazing! A magical voice and an undeniable victory. I’m fascinated,” said Samoilova.

During the announcement of the scores, the Lithuanian TV presenter shouted “Glory to Ukraine”, and in response she heard the approving roar of the audience and the answer of her Ukrainian colleagues “Glory to the heroes.”

However, after this, the fervent ardor disappeared - the Lithuanians did not give Ukraine a single point based on the results of the national vote.

Russian singer Yuri Loza said that he is not interested in what is happening at the international Eurovision song contest, but this year's winner, Portuguese Salvador Sobral, was the only performer who attracted his attention, since the number reflected the culture of Portugal.

“I’m not at all interested in what’s going on at the English get-together called Eurovision.” I don’t watch Thai competitions, Mongolian ones - it’s absolutely not interesting to me. All songs are written by English-Swedish teams, the numbers are choreographed by the French and Greeks. Everything is the same there, you will never determine if you don’t tell and sign below who is singing,” said Loza.

Some Russian stars spoke out about the Portuguese's victory. Thus, Vera Brezhneva wrote in her microblog: “I am in an absolutely romantic mood after hearing the song and performance of the Eurovision winner in the finale. It so happens that radio stations have recently rarely included lyrical compositions in rotation. They want fast, dancing ones. And we, artists, are subject to these trends... But the soul sings. And especially now"
