About the performance

A chance meeting at a Paris train station. She goes to Nice, he goes to Strasbourg. It would seem that this is not at all on the path... Leon is a young programmer, Anita is a costume designer opera house. Unexpected meeting turned both their heads and grew into a passionate romance. They are madly in love, and the whole world is now perceived through the prism of this love.

Leon follows Anita on tour, stands in the wings, listens to the hated opera and waits for the evening... Not wanting to reduce his amazing love to a banal Parisian romance, he decides to deceive and tells Anita that he is married. She, in turn, is unpleasantly surprised and in response invents a groom for herself... Instead of opening up to each other, the lovers become even more entangled in their lies.

“Love Story” is a mirror reflecting the difficulties of the generation of thirty-year-olds who have forgotten how to hear their own hearts. A story about a life where emoticons replace sincere smiles, and kisses are increasingly becoming virtual.

From the producer

Gerald Sibleiras, the author of the play on which our performance is based, is far from a new name in Russian theater. His most famous play, “The Wind is Noisy in the Poplars” (the second title is “The Poplars and the Wind”), is staged a lot in Russia, and in Moscow for a long time was already shown in two respectable theaters - the Vakhtangov Theater and the Satyricon - what is now for modern play very rare.

The original title of Sibleiras's play is "Romantic Comedy". In French it sounds quite attractive, but in the Russian version it sounds more like a genre than a name. Therefore we decided to new option, - we called the play “Love Story. A Comedy of Errors,” which, by the way, more accurately expresses its essence.

But if Sibleiras insisted on his author's title, what did he have to do? every right, then I would expand it and call the play “Romantic Comedy of Our Days.” When creating the play, Sibleiras strove precisely for this - modern sound eternal yin-yang relationship. Real, deep, but developing in today's rhythm. When love letters from paper format flow into email and SMS format, and long telephone conversations lovers purchase a “television version” in the form of Skype.

From all the “cracks” of this sharp and sometimes frighteningly frank play, from every dialogue, every reprise, today literally splashes out. The game of independence, the freedom of relationships, the fear of responsibility for loved ones and the love of simplifying relationships - all this is so typical today's life. But all this quickly fades into the background when it comes to true love.

My pride as a producer in this performance is, as it seems to me, the exact cast. And the most important thing is the main characters - the same duet, the same loving couple whose story is told in the play. Svetlana Khodchenkova and Alexander Ustyugov give birth to that degree of charisma, that degree of sparks that not only fly, but electrify everything around. Visually, emotionally, energetically.

I am happy that we continue to work together with another duet - an amazing creative and family tandem from Lithuania - director Dainius Kazlauskas and artist Indre Pacesaite. We call ourselves “enemies of boredom” and believe that we can tell any, even the most serious, story in an engaging and stress-free manner. That's where we stand.

Director Dainius Kazlauskas and actors BRAVO! Great performance! Before I bought it as a gift for February 14th for my beloved man, I read the reviews, there were a lot of bad ones, and I realized that I had to buy it! I love Svetlana! How beautiful she is! And actors Alexander, Peter, Dmitry, Anna, YOU ARE SUPER! Don't read these stupid reviews! They are written by "shapoklyak" aunts, snobs or just boring people. This is a play about the love of young people not in Soviet time! If in your life there were no such scenes, such passion, such words, an unbridled desire to have sex, SMS messages about the desire to have it and how, photos of parts of your body sent to your loved one when he is not around, then I sincerely feel sorry for you. Moreover, you should go to this performance! Maybe you can still fix everything and add play and passion to your life! To those who understand me, I advise that it will be a romantic evening, light, cheerful, and most importantly unforgettable!

If it weren’t for Yushkevich, they would have left immediately. He pulled off the performance: bravo to him. Otherwise, everything is commonplace and primitive. Joke. repeated twice is no longer a joke, but three times or more, this... one thing pleases us, they gave us tickets.

We watched the play on March 29, 2014. To say that this is not a play or a game is not enough. The jokes are below the belt, very reminiscent of the show from the Rossiya TV channel, if you like real acting, this is not the place for you. It’s a pity for the time wasted. Another scratch.
