Biography

Vasil Trayanov Boyanov was born in Sliven, but grew up in Kostinbrod and Sofia. Comes from a wealthy gypsy family; The mother belongs to the gypsy ethnic group Kalderari, the father belongs to the Erlia. At the age of 11, his family moved to Germany, where Vasil worked as a dog walker. There he studies German, and his sister Matilda is born there. In Germany he tries to realize himself as a model, but he fails. At the modeling agency he meets Yuliana Kyncheva, with whom they become good friends.

One of the first performances was a performance in the Roma ensemble. At the beginning of 1999, he entered into his first contract with the Marathon Records label, at the same time Azis was born - the singer chose his pseudonym on behalf of the main character of the Turkish film. His first songs were included in the collection “DJ Folkmarathon”. However, Azis was discovered by the producer of “Sunny Music” Krum Asanov. Azis approached him with his first album of gypsy songs. Asanov decided to give him a chance in view of his gypsy origin. Azis himself described their first album “Noqt” as “complete boza” (a Bulgarian drink similar to mash). Their second album, “Mazhete sscho cry”, brings popularity. Azis has currently released eleven studio albums.

On May 3, 2005, he was elected honorary chairman of the Eurorom Political Movement party, where he also headed the cultural commission. In the summer of 2005, he was a candidate for deputy, but was unable to enter the People's Assembly. He is the author of most of the party's educational program. According to Azis, parents of children who do well in school should receive money for this, and in classes where there are 30% Bulgarians, everyone should receive free textbooks and teaching aids; urges Eurorom legislators to give up their salaries.

On May 18, 2006, together with Mariana Popova, he performed for Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song “Let Me Cry” as a backing vocalist. He did not participate in the Bulgarian qualifying competition because he did not want to cause speculation with his participation that his fame could fuel interest in Mariana Popova's song.

Popularity in Russia

Azis became widely known in Russia only in 2011. Then his video for the song “Mrazish” began to actively spread on the Runet.
