Future village through the eyes of a child drawing. Step-by-step master class: how to draw a city. The secret... is in geometry

Hello dear friends! It's time to figure out how to draw a city step by step with a pencil.

If you live in a city, then the best thing you can do to draw it is to go outside (of course, you need to finish reading this article before that), choose a colorful place and try to draw it. Working from nature will give you more emotions and experience than sketching. If you are too lazy to go outside or the weather is bad, then you can always transfer your view from the window to paper :)

In general, we’ll talk about drawing from life some other time, but for now let’s start drawing the city step by step and look at all the important points in this matter.

Learn to draw a city

Stage 1
Our drawing will consist of houses and paths between them, so in the first step we must sketch out the buildings.

We draw six lines, the description turns out to be too abstract. So that you understand what these lines are and what they are needed for, we recommend scrolling this lesson a little higher or to the very bottom. When you see the finished drawing, you will immediately understand what these lines mean.

Stage 2
We continue to refine our pencil sketches made in the previous step. We draw the corners of the buildings and the doorway at the left house.

Stage 3
Now we are working on the roofs of our city.

By the way, when drawing a city, you actively develop a sense of perspective, because a city is a collection of rectangles receding into the distance, that is, buildings, the location of which is very easy to understand.

Stage 4
It's time to take care of the city road. Using two lines drawn from the corner of the house to the end of the drawing in pencil, we depict the sidewalk.

Since the sidewalk is a three-dimensional object, we must convey its volume. Pay attention to the left side of the road. In some places, the sidewalk narrows into one line, which is what allows us to convey its volume.

Also, at this step we detail the roof, for beauty we add stripes on the houses and on the right building we depict a doorway with a large canopy.

Stage 5
What's a city without trees? On the left side of the road we depict a small tree. If you don’t know how to draw trees, you can read our article about it. In the right house we insert a door :)

Stage 6
We continue to work on our cityscape. On the right side you need to draw tables and chairs of a street restaurant. It is best to draw them first with a pencil, so that if you make a mistake, you can correct it.

Also, at this step you need to draw the door and roof of the restaurant and the door in the left house.

Stage 7
Let's detail our metropolis. We draw pipes on the roofs, flowers in a pot on the road and hanging on the wall, we draw a pillar.

Fine details are a very important thing in drawing, especially in drawing a city in pencil. Therefore, you can draw some of your own, invented details. For example, a cat, people, cars and much more.

Stage 8
We draw windows in houses. Please note that the windows in the left and right houses obey the laws of perspective. Namely, they are drawn at an angle, unlike the windows in the house, which are located in the center of the drawing.

If you wish, you can draw curtains or people in the windows.

Bottom line
We have left the most difficult task for you :) You need to take paints or markers and color our metropolis. Of course, you can also work on chiaroscuro, but this is for more experienced artists. So, if you feel strong, go for it!

Every year the construction industry improves, offering people more and more comfortable and beautiful houses and apartments for living. If you just think about how houses have changed in one century, you can close your eyes and visually imagine how much things can change after some more time. One can discuss this topic ad infinitum. However, not everyone can express their thoughts on paper. Therefore, in today’s article we decided to push our readers to creativity, demonstrating how a pencil drawing of a house of the future can be original and unique. The photo below offers ideas that can be used in creating your dream home, or as a sample for sketching.

How to draw a house of the future in pencil?

To draw a house of the future with a pencil, you need to prepare in advance all the tools for depicting the drawing. In addition to a simple pencil with a hard lead, you need to have on hand several white A4 sheets, an eraser, colored pencils, paints or felt-tip pens for coloring the finished work. The artists also recommend thinking through your own understanding of the house of the future in advance. For example, will it look like a royal castle, a spaceship, a geometric figure or a flower.

Don't forget about the facade of the house. It can have a panoramic view, unusual windows in the shape of geometric polygonal shapes, and even the absence of doors.

House of the future - pencil drawing on photo

Below are more than 20 options for houses that differ in appearance and internal content in the cut. Each model is unique and inimitable, has its own characteristics and unusual details.

If you compare each home with each other, you cannot help but notice the discrepancy in shape, material, parameters and even details necessary for a comfortable life. We are talking about windows, the front door, the foundation of the house and even the external facade. After all, the decision about the landscape of the adjacent territory is up to the owner alone.

Think through all the details of the house of the future, visually representing each detail. This will help to depict a home in a short time, without resorting to help.

Make sure that all drawing supplies are at hand.

Use your idea of a dream home without copying from a finished layout.

Any paints, pencils and felt-tip pens will do.

Without artistic skills, it is better not to take on complex work. It is better to opt for one-story, simple living spaces, painted in one color.

Rivers, lakes and forests are a pleasure. However, now we will learn how to draw a city. Let's look at the step-by-step drawing process in detail. So let's get started!

Necessary materials:

  • colored pencils of yellow, brown, green tones;
  • simple pencils;
  • ruler;
  • eraser;
  • sheet of white paper.

Drawing steps:

1. We begin to develop the city, for this, first of all, we need high-rise buildings. First, let's place two such buildings. The height and width may differ from each other. To make further drawing easier, first of all we draw a horizontal line on which all the buildings in the city will be placed.

2. Let’s draw one more building on the left and right sides. In this picture there is one building that is taller than all of them; let’s draw a semicircle just above its top. But on a small building located on the left side, we will draw a pitched roof.

3. Let’s add some skyscrapers in the background. The building on the right side has an interesting upper part. Next, you should use your imagination and come up with your own building design. We will draw exactly these tops of the building. Let our city become the metropolis of the future!

4. Let's add a few more buildings and draw the top of one of them, which will house a television antenna or the office of one of the TV channels.

5. Now let's move on to a detailed drawing of the entire drawing. We will add windows to each building. Each building will have different shaped windows. Detailing the television tower. Let's add trees and other vegetation to the drawing. If you wish, you can, shops, people who will be walking or rushing to work, etc.

6. For the brightness and saturation of our drawing, we use a simple pencil marked B8 or B9. These pencils are soft and can create dark lines. We outline the entire drawing.

7. Use a brown pencil to color the tree trunks. But let’s start greening the trees with light green.

8. Darken the trees and bushes with a dark green pencil.

9. We will decorate the windows with a blue or light blue pencil.
