What did you dream about as a child?
Igor Krutoy:
I wanted to be a driver. When I was two years old, I was given some kind of accordion, but still, since childhood, I did not perceive music as a profession. Well, what kind of profession is this? My dad worked at a radio factory, he died very early - at 53 years old. Mom recently turned 75 years old; she worked as a laboratory assistant at the sanitary and epidemiological station, then worked at the same radio plant. He practically got married like me - early. He saw his mother at a dance, took her home once and proposed. He was decisive.
Igor had two favorite things in life: football and cars. All the walls in the room were covered with football players and newspaper clippings. His younger sister walked completely in his footsteps. To this day, he is the highest authority for her.

Did your parents have anything to do with music?
Igor Krutoy:
My father played the accordion a little. He was the first to notice that, having heard a song on the radio, I could repeat it on the accordion. Then he bought me my own button accordion. I was about 5-6 years old when I was already playing. I couldn't be seen from behind the button accordion. I was asked to accompany the school choir. When I was in 5th grade, we opened a dance floor. We formed an ensemble, and I began to play the accordion.

When did you first sit down at the piano?
Igor Krutoy:
After I started playing the accordion, at that time “Ionika-10” came to the House of Culture according to orders. This was the first electric instrument. I started playing this instrument, I wiped every key after every rehearsal. We already had a saxophone and trumpet in the ensemble. After 7th grade, my mother took me to the regional music school. They told my mom that I have absolute pitch, but I don’t know a damn thing, and if I learn to play the piano in a year, they’ll take me to the theoretical department. I coped with this task. I graduated from college with honors. Since the sixth grade, I managed to play the button accordion, so I contributed money to the family budget.

There was a moment when he wanted to quit music school, but I didn’t let him. He made money from this, but I never thought that this would become his profession.
After graduating from music school, Igor Krutoy entered the conducting and choral department of the Nikolaev Musical Pedagogical Institute. Along with his studies, he worked part-time in a restaurant with his friend Alexander Serov - Serov sang, Krutoy played.

When did you move to work in Moscow, and how did the capital greet you?
Igor Krutoy:
The capital did not greet me very warmly; somehow I could not immediately find a job.

I'm more of a composer.

I had a youth period - this is “Star Factory-4”. Thanks to the guys I took there, Domenik Joker and Timati, perhaps a direction appeared in the country - R"n"B. In terms of the number of hits and artists that turned out, this factory was luckier. She turned out good in human terms too. We're all still friends.

Right away I treated Igor Yakovlevich as a Guru, then I began to take him very seriously as a musician.

At the castings for “Star Factory,” Igor Krutoy sat among the jury members. Out of fear, I sang worse than I could, and I looked worse too, he looked at me very sternly. Igor Krutoy:
I still don’t feel it until now. For some, success is the material side. For me, success is only creativity. If today you wrote what is in demand and what you like, you are cool, but tomorrow you don’t write it - in your passport you are cool, but in your work you are not.
Family for Igor Krutoy is the most important thing in life. Although Igor's wife Olga and daughter live in the USA for more than a month, they never leave. For 15 years now they have been living in two houses, flying across the ocean.

How did you meet and how did you realize that this was your woman?
Igor Krutoy:
We met her in New York. When I saw her for the first time, she was unattainable for me. Then we found ourselves in the same company and were introduced to each other. I have 2 weeks left and I said: “Let’s get married,” she said: “Let’s go.”

Krutoy's eldest children, Nikolai and Victoria, are already completely independent people. Igor continues to help them and takes part in their fate, but he pays the greatest attention to his youngest daughter Sasha.

Where do you see little Sasha in the future?
Igor Krutoy:
Now she can draw well, but then she is a terrible clothes maker; she inherited this from her mother. From what I see now, I can say that she can realize herself as a designer. I don’t see her as a musician yet.

Olga's biography begins in 1963. She was born in the city of St. Petersburg. Her family was not very rich, her father was a communist who lived by the rules and tried to adjust the whole family to these rules, and her mother was a quiet and calm woman who looked after the house.
As a child, Olga was very obedient child, but as she grew older, her father’s framework no longer suited her. The girl constantly argued with her father about the fact that she was an adult and should not listen to anyone about how long she should go out and what to wear. But the father believed that he was the head of the family, which means his word is above all. As a result, thanks to her character, Olga was able to achieve her goal. In many ways, character and perseverance helped the girl become who she is now.
After school, the girl received an economic education. Initially, she wanted to choose a different direction, but to spite her father, she chose economics. Childhood
Igor Yakovlevich Krutoy is from Ukraine, born in the city of Gayvoron, Kirovograd region on July 29, 1954.
His family was far from art - his father Yakov Aleksandrovich was a freight forwarder at a factory, and his mother Svetlana Semenovna was at first a laboratory assistant at the sanitary and epidemiological station, but after the birth of her daughter Alla, she left work and devoted herself entirely to the family and household.

At school, the boy also became known as a star - at children's matinees, Igor accompanied the choir on the button accordion, and already in the sixth grade he organized his own ensemble, which he successfully led.
After graduation, Igor had to decide on future profession, then his mother advised him to try to enroll in School of Music. But to pass the entrance exams, you had to learn to play the piano. Therefore, the young man postponed his enrollment for one year and spent the whole year mastering a new instrument.
Way to success
In 1970, the young man entered the Kirovograd Music School in the theoretical department. Having graduated with honors, the musician decided to apply to the Kyiv Conservatory, but his efforts were unsuccessful.
In young age
The musician taught for a year at music school V hometown, after that he entered the Nikolaev Musical Pedagogical Institute to become a conductor. At the same time, the young man got a job as a waiter in a restaurant, where he met pop singer. Then Igor begins to write songs to the star.

The year 1987 can rightfully be called a turning point in Krutoy’s career - then his song “Madonna” was released, written for his friend Alexander Serov. The composer’s success was consolidated by the compositions “You Love Me,” “Wedding Music” and “How to Be.” A whole list of pop stars also became interested in collaborating with the composer.
Producer activity
Krutoy began his production activities in 1989, it was then that he became artistic director Youth Center "ARS". Nine years later, he rose to the position of president of the company. In this position, the producer managed to make ARS the largest concert and production organization in Russia.
The authority of this company is unimaginable; more and more stars wanted to collaborate with it and hired it to organize their concerts. At one time, the company organized concerts in Russia for Michael Jackson and Jose Carerras. “ARS” also produced the programs “Morning Mail”, “Song of the Year”, “ Good morning, country!”, and “Soundtrack”, which had incredible success from the public.
Since 1994, Igor Yakovlevich, together with ARS, began organizing his own creative evenings, at which already famous celebrities and aspiring singers performed.
The first creative evenings took place at the Moscow Operetta Theater and were dedicated to Krutoy’s fortieth anniversary.
This event became very popular not only in Russia, but also far beyond its borders: the evenings were a success in the CIS countries, America, Germany and Israel.

Channel One scandal
Since 2003, the persona Igor has been persona non grata for Channel One. For several years, Krutoy’s songs did not appear on this channel; the famous “New Wave” and “Song of the Year” disappeared from the airwaves. The events that occurred after the TV project “Star Factory-4” were to blame. The show's low ratings made the general director very angry.
Then he became angry with Igor Krutoy, who undertook to produce some people from the Factory, although this was not provided for in the Channel One contract.
Then Krutoy was given an ultimatum - the producer must provide the channel with half of the program of the “New Wave” and “Song of the Year” competitions, and also give the leadership of the Muz TV channel to Channel One. The producer did not agree. As a result, the conflict was resolved only several years later.
During this time, Krutoy still had to sell 75% of the shares of the Muz TV channel to Alisher Usmanov. As Igor himself says in an interview, due to constant bullying, he began to become apathetic; he did not want to create or release anything. Therefore, during the conflict with the First, the producer did not release or write anything. However, it was not only problems with the TV channel that haunted Igor Krutoy.
Health problems
Shortly before the conflict, the musician became seriously ill. Domestic doctors could not do anything with a pancreatic cyst and just threw up their hands. Then the composer decided to go to the States for surgery. In New York they did it for Igor the most complicated operation, after which he seemed to be born again.
Having learned about this, the press quickly spread the news of the composer's imminent death and shocked the public quite a bit. As Igor says, after the operation his family and friends started calling him, asking in which cemetery he would be buried.
Personal life of Igor Krutoy
Igor met his first wife, Elena Krutoy, in Leningrad. Immediately three days later, Igor asked Elena to marry him, she agreed. The lovers met in 1979, and two years later their first child, son Nikolai, was born. But soon the couple separated - Elena left Igor and even forbade him to see their common son for some time.
She introduced the composer to her second wife, Olga Krutoy, at a New Year's celebration in New York. At that time, the girl already had a husband and daughter, and Igor was having a hard time breaking up with his first wife.

Victoria and David got married a month and a half ago in America - the official registration of the marriage took place in the suburbs of New York, in the Hamptons, on June 1. A few weeks later in Monaco they became husband and wife according to Jewish custom. At the end of the traditional ceremony, David crushed right foot glass wrapped in a towel, and the guests shouted in unison: “Mazal Tov!”, translated - “Happy fate!”
Dusk fell over Monte Carlo, and guests slowly began to move into the Sporting Club celebration hall, located next to the hotel. A spacious hall with a stage and a long terrace, which offers panoramic views of Monaco and the bay of the Ligurian Sea, has become ideal place for a big celebration. The already wonderful mood was supported by the musicians of A"Studio, SEREBRO, Ivan Dorn, the famous American hip-hop artist and producer Jean Wyclef, as well as the host of the evening Nikolai Baskov.

In 1987-1999, Igor Krutoy released a series of discs “Songs of the composer Igor Krutoy” in five parts. His songs are recorded in the albums of Alexander Buinov "Islands of Love" (1997), "My finances sing romances" (1999), Irina Allegrova "I will part the clouds with my hands" (1996), "An unfinished novel" (1998), Mikhail Shufutinsky "Once upon a time in America" (1998), Laima Vaikule's "Latin Quarter" (1999), Valery Leontyev's "Rope Dancer" (1999), Vadim Baykov's "Queen of My Dreams" (1996).
The composer also released collections of songs “Starfall” (1994), “Love is like a dream” (1995), as well as two albums for the group “Rose Sisters” - “What’s it like in Russia” (1992) and “You are me” ( 1998).

In 2009, the composer’s double album “Deja Vu” was released, in which Dmitry Hvorostovsky performed songs by Igor Krutoy.

Igor Krutoy is married for the second time. He has daughters Victoria (born in 1985) and Alexandra (born in 2003) and a son from his first marriage, Nikolai (born in 1981).
